After Work Routine | Relaxing & Healthy Habits
This is how I relax and unwind after a busy day at work.

Hello everyone, and welcome to another video! Today, I wanted to share with you my after-work de-stress routine. This is what I do almost every weekday after coming home from work. The first thing I do is unpack my lunch bag—taking out all the dishes that need washing—and then I put away the clean dishes from either the night before or that morning. I used to put off this task, but I’ve realized that getting it done right away makes me so much happier. A clean kitchen ready for dinner is a small joy that helps me unwind.

After tidying up, I usually need a quick snack. Today, I had half an apple left over, so I chopped it up and sprinkled some cinnamon on top. It’s just enough to keep me going, as I was about to take a long walk with my dog. I quickly changed into comfortable clothes and got ready to go outside. One of the best parts of my day is seeing how excited my dog gets when he knows we’re heading out. His happiness is contagious, and I can’t help but smile as we get in the car to go to our favorite walking spot.
We typically walk at least two miles, but today we covered about two and a half miles. It was such a beautiful day, and being out in the fresh air really helped ease my anxiety. Once I got home, I changed into some comfy clothes, checked my personal emails, and watched a few things on YouTube—just to take my mind off work and truly wind down.

As a treat, I’ve been having a little glass of ginger kombucha before dinner. Tonight, I was craving something comforting, so I decided to make a big batch of our favorite spicy spaghetti. I started by chopping up some green pepper, onions, and garlic, and then sautéing them in a pan. I added some plant-based meat crumbles, chili powder for a kick, and a combination of chopped tomatoes and marinara sauce. We used gluten-free brown rice spaghetti, which tastes very similar to regular pasta. I topped it with nutritional yeast for that cheesy, salty flavor and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. As a carb lover, nothing relaxes me more than a big bowl of pasta loaded with vegetables!

After dinner, one of the things that really helps me wind down is laughing with my husband, Jack. He’s hilarious and always manages to make me laugh, which is such a great stress reliever. Once we’ve had our fun, I head back into the kitchen to prep for the next day. It may seem like extra work, but prepping my lunch and overnight oats the night before makes my mornings so much smoother and less stressful.
Once I’m done prepping, it’s time for dessert. Lately, I’ve been enjoying an 88% cocoa dark chocolate bar from the Endangered Species brand. I usually have about a third of the bar, which is the perfect amount for me. Then, I make myself a cup of tea. Having an evening tea has become part of my nightly ritual, and it really helps me feel calm. I’ve been loving a blend of peppermint and licorice, which has a naturally sweet flavor without any added sugar.

I take my tea into the bedroom, where I might read the news, watch more YouTube, or even take off my nail polish while sipping my tea. Sometimes, I add a little magnesium supplement to my tea, which helps with relaxation. My dog usually jumps up on the bed to play, which is a bad habit we’ve allowed, but I don’t mind. Before bed, I spend a few minutes writing in my 5-minute journal, which has been a great tool for reflection. It includes prompts for both the morning and evening, helping me stay grounded and mindful.
Tonight, I decided to treat myself to a sheet mask, which felt so refreshing on my skin. After leaving it on for about 15 minutes, I took it off and prepared for bed. One last thing I do before sleeping is a yoga pose called “legs up the wall,” which helps calm my nervous system and puts my body into a restful state. This simple pose really helps me quiet my mind, allowing me to drift off peacefully.

After finishing my yoga pose, I feel completely relaxed, both mentally and physically. It’s a wonderful way to signal to my body that the day is officially over and that it’s time to rest. My mind feels calmer, and I find that I can drift into sleep much easier after doing this. Sometimes, it’s hard to quiet the constant flow of thoughts from the day, but this simple routine has become a great tool to ease into a peaceful night.

As I lie in bed, I take a moment to reflect on the little things I’m grateful for from the day—whether it was a peaceful walk, a delicious meal, or a good laugh with my husband. These small moments remind me that even on busy or stressful days, there are always reasons to feel content and thankful. It’s a nice way to end the day on a positive note, shifting my focus from any lingering stress to feelings of gratitude and fulfillment.
With my journal beside me, my tea finished, and my dog curled up at the foot of the bed, I feel ready to let go of the day and settle into sleep. The routine I’ve developed, from walking my dog to enjoying a bowl of pasta and winding down with tea and journaling, helps me create a sense of calm and balance that carries me through the week.

Though life can be hectic, I’ve learned that carving out these little pockets of time for myself is so important for my mental and emotional well-being. Every evening may not look exactly like this, but prioritizing self-care has made such a difference in how I handle stress and prepare for the next day.
So, that’s my after-work de-stress routine! I hope you found some inspiration or ideas to incorporate into your own evening routine. Remember, it’s all about finding what works for you—whether it’s enjoying a peaceful walk, making a comforting meal, or simply taking a few moments to unwind before bed. Thank you again for watching, and don’t forget to subscribe for more content. I’ll see you in the next video! Have a great night and take care!

As I settle into bed, I remind myself that the most important part of my evening routine is the feeling of peace it brings. It’s not about perfection or having everything in place, but about allowing myself to unwind and recharge. Some days might be more chaotic, and other nights might not go exactly as planned, but creating a consistent routine like this helps me feel more grounded.
Over time, I’ve realized that these small, intentional moments at the end of the day have a huge impact on my overall well-being. By taking the time to decompress, I’m able to release the stresses of work and prepare myself for the next day with a clearer mind. Whether it’s through the joy of cooking a comforting meal, laughing with my husband, or journaling about my thoughts, each activity plays a part in helping me relax.

The beauty of a de-stress routine is that it’s completely customizable to your needs. For me, it’s a mix of physical activities like walking, emotional connection through laughter, and mental relaxation through journaling and tea. These activities create balance and allow me to wind down from the busyness of life in a way that feels natural.
In closing, my evening routine is something I look forward to each day. It’s a time for me to refocus, reflect, and take care of myself—whether that’s through preparing a meal, sipping tea, or enjoying a moment of quiet. I hope you find time to create your own routine that brings you peace, no matter how your day goes. And remember, it’s okay to take it slow and savor those moments for yourself.
