How I Run a $30M Online Business as a Mom

Curious about what it’s really like to run an 8-figure business while being a mom, wife, and managing everyday life? In this video, I’ll take you through a typical day in my life, where I juggle family time, personal self-care, and growing my online business — all while keeping things flexible and stress-free.

You’ll learn how I:

Structure my day around family, personal wellness, and work without sacrificing success.

Prioritize movement, mindfulness, and productivity for a balanced routine.

Use asynchronous communication to run meetings and streamline operations efficiently.

Combine work and life in a way that supports freedom and peace of mind.

Plus, I’ll show you how building an online education business has given me the freedom to choose how I spend my time, work on what I love, and be present with my family.

When people think about the lives of top entrepreneurs, they often picture relentless hustle, packed schedules, and a constant barrage of productivity hacks. The assumption is that success only comes from working non-stop. But I’m here to give you a peek into my life as an eight-figure business owner who also juggles being a mom to a one-year-old baby girl, a dog mom, a wife, and just a regular person with a full life outside of business. You might be surprised at how I balance it all, and it may not look like the typical “grind” you might expect. In fact, my day is likely a lot more flexible than what you’re used to seeing from someone in my position.

I generally break my days into three key parts: family time, work time, and personal time. However, I don’t stick to a rigid routine. Instead, I like to think of each day as a set of ingredients that I mix differently, depending on how I feel. While some of the tasks are repetitive, I have the freedom to adjust my schedule to fit my needs. Our day usually starts around 7:00 or 7:30 in the morning when we wake up Cruz, our daughter. After her bottle, I change her diaper and then it’s time to take care of Mugsy, our four-year-old dog who’s been part of the family even longer than Cruz. Our mornings are spent together as a family—getting the house ready, brewing coffee, and enjoying these moments before diving into the workday. It’s time I deeply value, and I feel grateful that my business allows me to be fully present for these moments.

One of the greatest gifts of having built my own business is that I don’t feel the constant pressure to sit at my computer all day. Instead, before I even think about work, I do something for myself. This could be a morning workout or a quick meditation session. After feeding Cruz and ensuring she’s with her wonderful nanny, Ash, I like to head out for a morning walk. While it may seem like a small habit, it’s been a crucial part of my routine that sets the right tone for my day. During this walk, I take a few minutes to check in on work messages so I can get ahead of things without feeling overwhelmed.

By around 9:45, I’m back home and ready to start my workday. Over time, I’ve learned that movement is essential for me, even if it’s just for five minutes. As a business owner and a mom, I’ve also realized that my previous wild routine wasn’t sustainable. I used to try to fit in every productivity hack and optimize every second, but I’ve come to understand that it’s more about focusing on what truly matters. Now, I prioritize what makes me feel whole—movement and finding balance between work and personal life. Efficiency is key for me, and we’ve restructured the entire business to maximize it. Most of our meetings are now asynchronous, meaning we don’t all have to be in the same place or on the same Zoom call. I can take meetings while I walk and then return to my day with a clear head, having already handled some of the most pressing tasks.

What I’ve always wanted, and what I’ve now achieved, is freedom of choice. I don’t care about flashy things or luxurious trips as much as I used to; I’ve had that season of life, and I’m content. What matters to me now is how I spend my time—whether it’s working on something I love or spending time with my family. It’s not that I don’t work hard—I do, and I love what I do—but I’ve built my business in a way that allows me flexibility. There’s a societal pressure to choose between being a good business owner or a good parent, but I’ve found a way to balance both. There are seasons when my business requires more attention, but I’ve reached a point where I don’t have to be involved 24/7, which gives me the freedom to focus on what’s important.

Building an online education business has given me that freedom, and now I help others do the same. If you’re interested in creating an online course based on your expertise, you can apply for my Authority Accelerator program. This program offers a roadmap to building a scalable online business that doesn’t tie your time directly to your income. It’s the same method that allowed me to grow my business into multiple eight figures and has helped thousands of clients build thriving online education businesses of their own.

Once I’m back home from my walk, I can dive straight into focused work since I’ve already handled my messages. I’m a big fan of Cal Newport’s book Deep Work, which talks about eliminating distractions and giving full attention to one task at a time. This method has helped me complete my work faster and with better results. Some days, I work from home, and other days I head to a co-working space. As a mom, working from home can be tricky because every little sound makes me want to check on Cruz. That’s why I’ve carved out a space for deep work in my home, where I can close the door and focus. I handle meetings and administrative tasks in the morning, saving my creative and more exciting projects for when I have longer, uninterrupted stretches of time.

In the afternoons, I like to mix up my work with breaks—whether that’s heading outside, making some food, or squeezing in a workout. I’m also a fan of keeping my workspace clean and organized, and I’ve surrounded myself with personal items that remind me of how far I’ve come, like my 100,000 YouTube subscriber plaque, my 30 Under 30 award, and a picture I took with Oprah (even though it’s one of the worst photos I’ve ever taken!).

By 5:00 p.m., my husband and I make it a priority to go out for another family walk with Cruz. This routine allows us to decompress, spend time together, and unwind after a busy day. When we return, it’s all about getting dinner ready and starting Cruz’s bedtime routine. By 7:15, she’s bathed, read to, and tucked into bed, leaving us time to relax. Whether we watch a show or simply unwind, it’s our time to recharge before heading to bed ourselves, usually by 10:00 p.m.

Every day looks a little different for me because I’ve structured my business in a way that allows flexibility. After dinner, once Cruz is settled into bed, my husband and I use the remaining hours of the evening to relax and recharge. Whether it’s watching a TV show, a movie, or simply spending time talking, it’s our moment to unwind from the day’s demands. By 10:00 p.m., we aim to be in bed, allowing us to get the rest we need to wake up refreshed and start all over again the next day.

What I love most about my daily routine is the flexibility I’ve built into it. Every day looks different because I’ve structured my life and business to support my needs and priorities. I no longer feel the pressure to work nonstop, nor do I have to choose between my career and family. By focusing on efficiency and setting clear priorities, I’m able to get my most important work done while still being present for my family and taking care of myself.

It’s taken time and intention to build a business that allows this kind of freedom, but it’s entirely possible. If you’re interested in learning more about the strategies I’ve used to create this balance, or if you’re ready to build your own online education business, the Authority Accelerator program can guide you. As I reflect on my journey, I’m filled with gratitude for how far I’ve come—from hustling constantly to now having the freedom to design each day according to my own needs. Success, for me, isn’t just about the money or accolades; it’s about peace, purpose, and the ability to choose how I spend my time. My hope is that through this journey, I can inspire others to create a life and business that not only brings them success but also a sense of fulfillment and balance.
